Australia Day (Thursday 26th Jan 2012) starts in Palm Cove with a free Aussie Breakfast, right on the beach - directly in fron to Paradise on the Beach Resort. Then at 8:30am on there will be a band playing on the Northern side of Paradise on the Beach - in the Car Park in front of the Beach Club until 11:30am. Also at 8:30am the Mayor of Cairns, Val Scheir, will cut a giant Pavlova Cake (claimed by Australia as their national desert - NZers may disagree) on the steps to The Village shopping centre - on the Southern side of Paradise on the Beach. Throughout the day - a jumping castle at the surf club will keep the kiddies occupied - also for the boys the Harleys will be here along with Historic Vehicles on display.
Part of the Esplanade will be closed off for the days events, however bus transport to Cairns & Elsewhere will be available from a temporary bus-stop to be set up at the front of Mantra Amphora ( a short 5 min walk away) and shuttle buggies will be available to transport guests between their accomodation and the action.
